Frequently Asked Questions

How would you describe your photography style?   I love to capture candid moments, beautiful portraits, and lots of pretty details.  There will be moments when I’ll blend in to just observe whats going on and other times I will direct and stylize shots.  Time will be precious on your wedding day, so I work quickly while keeping the flow fun and relaxed!

When can we expect to see our wedding photos?   I want you to enjoy the first peek of your wedding images as soon as possible, so I promise to post all of your wedding images online no later than three weeks after your wedding!

How many pictures will we get?  For an average 8 hour wedding day, 2 photographers can take 3,000+ images.  From all of those images I cut down to the best 700+ images and do a basic edit to the images including correction to exposure, white balance, density, cropping, and sometimes conversions to BW.   You will receive these images as JPGS at 300 dpi, formatted for sizes up to 8×12”.  If you want to make your own prints, one of the best consumer labs I can recommend is MPIX.com, the consumer level of one of the professional labs I use for printing.

What percent of BW images can we expect to get?  All images are photographed in color and a few may be converted to BW.   This is done when the image is dynamic and powerful enough to speak without color.  I average around 15% if BW images.  If you prefer more BW images just let me know!

What types of albums do you create?  After sorting though hundreds of album companies and trying a few, I’ve finally discovered the perfect album solution!   I offer Digital Flush Mounted Wedding Albums that are custom designed to reflect your wedding and style.  Pages are all simple and custom made without templates and focus around your images.   Some features include flush mounted pages and your choice of photo wrapped/ leather/ silk/ or linen covers.  Click HERE to see samples and designs and contact me to schedule a time to see samples!

How long until we get our album?  Once I receive a final approval and full payment for your album, it will be sent to the lab for printing and binding.  Since all albums are handmade at the lab, the processing time for albums can take up to 4-6 weeks.  Trust me when I say, the wait will be worth it!

How many photographers will we have at our wedding?  A minimum of 2.   For each 75 guests, I may advise you hire an additional photographer to insure the best coverage of your event.

Should we do a “First Look”?   It’s a new age, and no longer considered “bad luck” for the groom to see the bride before the ceremony. There are actually some pretty big advantages to doing a first look prior to the wedding. First off, everyone is in top form. The bride and bridesmaids’ hair and makeup are fresh, and the groom and groomsmen are still OK with being in their tuxes. This is also a chance for the bride and groom to have an private moment to calm nerves, say a prayer together, exchange meaningful gifts, and/ or relax and think about the exciting moments that are about to unfold! After the first look we can do formal pictures of the bridal party and extended family freeing up the rest of your wedding day to spend with your guests! As your photographer, I promise not to be intrusive during private moments (both during the first look and ceremony) and collaborate on a photography timeline that includes who/ when/ and where formal photographs will be taken!

How long have you been shooting and what is your education?   My first photo class was in high school developing my own BW prints in a darkroom.    My first photo job was at the age of 17 in the mall, where I photographed children’s portraits for 5.5 years.   I learned most of what I know on the job and then took some more photography classes in college.   After I graduated from NIU, I started to focus on weddings and event photography.  I  moved  to California in 2008 to pursue my dream with photographing beautiful outdoor weddings and I have since had the pleasure of photographing about 50 weddings, both as a lead and working with other photographers.  I love to continue my education with photography workshops, lectures, and classes.

Do you travel?   I often travel for weddings from Santa Barbara to San Diego.   Travel fees apply to weddings beyond 50 miles and portrait sessions beyond 10 miles of Huntington Beach, CA.   Rates start at $3/mile roundtrip.  Destination travel fees generally includes airfare for two, accommodations, and transportation.  Please contact for and estimate.

What kind of camera do you use?  I use all professional Canon Digital gear that is very versatile in photographing in all sorts of conditions including low light and fast action.  I have backups of everything to insure I’m covered in the event of a malfunction or accident.  For a detailed list of what’s in the bag click HERE.

How much do you require for booking?  50% with singed contract to book and the balance is due 30 days before your wedding date.

What types of payment do you accept?  Cash, check, and credit cards (Visa/ MC).
